Looking for a New York history fix? Follow Duke Ellington’s advice and take the A train to Sugar Hill in the West Harlem neighborhood of Hamilton Heights. Fifteen Big Apple Greeter volunteers visited the neighborhood on a trip led by Greeter Chris Knowlton.

Big Apple Greeters were treated to a guided tour of historic Governors Island, known for its unique history in the New York Harbor. Learn some fun facts about the island and plan your own trip there.

Tom Keating, a long-time Greeter and former educator, took 20 Greeters on a virtual visit to every borough as he discussed some of the hundreds of repurposed buildings that have changed ownership many times since being constructed.

On November 11, a large group of Greeters visited The New-York Historical Society to travel back to those dark times with a docent through the exhibit, ‘The Salem Witch Trials; Reckoning and Reclaiming’ (through January 22, 2023).
